Jupiter is the fifth planet from the sun. The volume of Jupiter is 1319 times the volume of earth. Its density is 1.36 times the density of water. Its mass is 318 times the mass of the earth. Jupiter is the most massive planet in our solar system. Its surface is beautiful. It looks like white, red, brown, and orange paints, swirling and mixing. Jupiter is the biggest planet in the solar system. It is a planet of incredible storms. The red spot is the largest storm in the solar system. This massive hurricane is three times wider than the earth, has been raging for 400 years! This giant planet has no solid surface. Its gaseous material becomes denser with depth. Jupiter’s atmosphere is made mostly of hydrogen and helium. The colorful cloud bands are cloud layers. Darker clouds tend to be deeper in Jupiter’s atmosphere, while the lighter or white clouds are higher. Jupiter has 63 moons. The four largest moons are Ganymede, lo, Europa and Callisto.
